Campana de Difusión
In March 2008 we started working on an educational project in the town of Villamontes: Campaña de Difusión. This projects
aims on the communication of the results of former research we executed in Villamontes and surrounding villages with the
inhabitants of Villamontes.
Former results show that although there are still problems related to the contamination of the Pilcomayo with heavy metals,
the quality of the water, sediment and fish in the Pilcomayo near Villamontes shows a improvement during the last few years
and in contrast to many existing stories, the quality of the meat from the most important commercially exploited fish Sábalo is
suitable for human consumption.
The general idea of the project is to inform the villagers and organisations in Villamontes about the work executed and the
results obtained by LAMPI by means of radio, television, presentations and promotional materials like folders.
